About Lucy
Lucy has been quilting for over 30 years and has enjoyed exploring many different aspects of the craft throughout her quilting journey. She has worked on a wide variety of projects, experimenting with appliqué techniques, piecing sampler quilts featuring numerous block designs, and learning new patterns and methods along the way.
One of Lucy’s favorite quilting styles involves curves, and she particularly enjoys using specialty rulers that make curved piecing more approachable and fun. She loves the creativity and challenge that curved designs bring to a quilt.
Lucy is passionate about teaching others and enjoys helping people develop confidence in sewing, quilting, and fiber arts. She teaches beginning sewing skills, quilting basics, and crocheting, and finds great satisfaction in helping students discover new creative abilities.
In addition to teaching, Lucy has completed the Singer Online Sewing Machine Repair Training program. She uses those skills to clean, maintain, and repair sewing machines donated to Sew4Service, helping ensure that the machines are ready for classes and community projects.
About ten years ago, Lucy joined the Cotton Candy Quilt Guild, where she found a welcoming community of fellow quilters. She values the friendships, support, and camaraderie she has built through the guild and enjoys sharing ideas and inspiration with other members.
Today, Lucy especially looks forward to quilting retreats, where she can spend dedicated time working on projects while enjoying the company of her quilting friends. She is excited to share her knowledge, enthusiasm, and love of sewing and quilting with others through Sew4Service.
